EarthGrace specialises in Environmental Applications in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (Act No. 107 of 1998), as amended [NEMA]; the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008), as amended [NEM:WA]; and the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act, 2004 (Act No. 39 of 2004), as amended [NEM:AQA].

Scoping/EIA Applications

An EIA process includes full Scoping and Impact Assessment Phases.  The need for a full Scoping/EIA is required should any activities in Listing Notice 2 of the EIA Regulations 2014, as amended, are triggered.

Basic Assessment Applications

Basic Assessment (BA) process is a shorter process and is required should any activities in Listing Notice 1 and/or 3 of the EIA Regulations 2014, as amended, are triggered.

Rectification of unauthorised activities

The rectification process is conducted when an activity or activities have commenced with, without environmental authorisation in terms of NEMA, NEM:WA or NEM:AQA.

Public Participation Process (PPP)

Public participation is compulsory during environmental applications.  The PPP is conducted  to suit each project, ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation and guidelines.

Amendment Applications

An Amendment Application is undertaken to make any changes to the approved Environmental Authorisation.

Site Verification and Risk Assessments

Site verification visits are conducted to provide input and advice. Potential impacts are identified and the associated risk is assessed.

Environmental Management Programmes (EMPRs)

An EMPr is usually required as part of an EIA or BA process. This report is used to guide the construction and operation phases of the project. The report will consider the following aspects: construction, operation, rehabilitation, monitoring and maintenance.

Identification of Environmental Legislation

Identification of applicable environmental legislation such as specific Environmental Management Acts (SEMAs) that fall under NEMA.

Opportunity and Constraints Analyses and associated mapping

This tool is used to identify target areas for development taking the various constraints into account.

Auditing

Regulation 34 Audit Reports, in terms of the EIA Regulations 2014, as amended, are often a requirement of the Environmental Authorisation.
